Where we stopped was in still water. I noticed this "trash" in the water had rope tied around it. Turned out they were markers for crayfish traps. A number of years ago the Chinese govt asked if they could introduce crayfish to the Nile. The Egyptian govt agreed. It has not become a problem and has given fishermen another source of income.
